End of 1st Grade: Delilah

Delilah's culminating event was a talent show.  She decided to sing from Frozen.  She wanted no assistance except for her friend Abby to dance while she sang.

Kindergarten Graduation x2

This happened a month ago!  Our first night was to see Delilah's graduation.  We saw her self-portrait, some songs by the kids, a solo by Delilah, a slide show of the year and diplomas were awarded.

The following night we saw Addison's graduation which was very similar.

My Efforts!

Sometimes when I get my camera out, I just want to get a quick shot.  It's just not always easy and I end up shooting A LOT of pictures.  Then I delete A LOT of pictures.  And sometimes that's because I can't find a good spot or the lighting doesn't work or I'm not quick enough or it's too blurry.

And sometimes, it's just because they won't cooperate!!!!!

Lil Dancers

The girls' babysitter sent me some videos so I could see what went on when I'm not there.  I think their time at the babysitters is very similar to their time at home...which is why we are so happy that we've had the opportunity to know their family.  They are great friends and I think they've been a blessing for us.

During the day, they spend time with Mairi because Mathea is at school.  It's like Erica has triplets to take care of!  They're an entertaining group.

My Ballerina

She LOVES to dance.  And in my opinion, she's a natural.  She's graceful.
Aunt Khanchi and company gave her a game for Christmas that was right up her ally.  The game is based on the show "Angelina Ballerina."  Addison doesn't really play by the rules, but she's made it into a learning tool.  She looks at all the cards to learn the different moves and listens to the accompanying CD to dance.

Speech

I know that it's not the best thing to encourage, but I think that Addison's pronunciation of her sister's name is adorable.  Di-yah. I didn't want to fix it.  Then one day I heard this:

That's what made me realize that someone was correcting it.  Shortly after this incident we had a parent-teacher conference and Mrs. Johnson said we needed to look into getting both girls tested.

So, last week, Ezra and I took the girls to get an evaluation done.  They both scored high in the cognitive tests.   In fact, they pushed the high side of "average" and even beyond in a couple of categories. On the other side...the side where our concern lie...they both scored severely low. The term sounds so negative...but we needed them to be severely low in order to qualify for speech services.  It really just comes down to not pronouncing some letters correctly and they need to learn how to enunciate the different types of sounds and letter combinations.  Soon we'll have to have a CPSE to see what the district will suggest.  Now, we wait and do some of our own modeling and practicing.

Enjoying the Evening

There's not much nice time left...we've already seen snow...so we've got to get out and enjoy the weather while we can!
Then, they sang me a song!
