Quirks

Delilah likes to collect.  She tends to gather a lot of things.  I've often said she travels with a posse because she gathers all her little animals and trinkets into bags and carts them to the different levels of our house. 

Two Unique Girls

The girls are best buds, but they are two completely different individuals. I was spending some down time with them reflecting on how uniquely different each one is. They sometimes play together, but are always near each other. When I was watching them, it dawned on me how okay this situation is. Delilah was doing her own plaything and Addison just kept popping around to see what that thing was, if she could join and how she could harass.

Delilah tends to collect things. I've made her a purse so that she can put her "cookies" in it because otherwise she tries to carry all of her puzzle pieces (dubbed "cookies") and cries when they fall...and it's not possible for her to carry all of them, therefore she'll always cry about it. Additionally, she'll grab baskets (which I've dedicated for groups of toys) and use them for her own arrangements of collections. She'll collect the finger puppets, or the wooden Melissa and Doug food, or her tools, or anything she deems worthy! Then she'll claim all pieces within this new collection to be hers and screams when Addison (or anyone else for that matter) takes any of them.

Delilah is also a caregiver. She takes care of BabyFloppy by carrying him, feeding him, nursing his injuries (with either the doctor kit of stickers from the doctor's office) and always ensuring that he is a participant. He doesn't sit with us at the table, but sits next to us and he must be facing us. His eyes cannot be covered with those floppy ears because he can't see. Sometimes he gets cold and needs a blanket. She's designated a specific towel to be his blanket. Her adoration is so endearing to me.

She's a colorer and a reader. She does well with both. She's precise when she colors and animated when she reads.

Addison is a little bit easier to sum up. She LOVES her princess gear. She wants pink and purple things. She likes jewelry, dresses and girly things. She's content with watching tv and movies and she knows how to get comfy. She's always been a lounger. Always.

She's smart. She likes puzzles. She likes to "write". She loves her mommy and wants to be like her. She assesses my outfit when I come home from work and always approves (as long as it's a skirt or dress and there's jewelry, which it usually is). She enjoys dancing and I think she'll be good at it. She's adding some singing to her repertoire which is truly amusing to watch.

Let me tell you about the other individual in my life. My husband, Ezra. He's a good man. He's a great daddy. He, like Delilah, is a great caregiver. He, like Addison, knows how to lounge. He's got his own interests and it's adorable to see the girls converse with him about fishing and fixing. They'll work with him with their tools to "fix" and use either their toy fishing poles or real gear that he's passed on to "fish".

Life is good.

We do love being twins because having a best friend is so great. Even though we fight, we love each other. We have so much fun together, laughing and playing.

Happy 11th months!!

So the girls are one month away from one-year! It's already been a whirlwind of milestones with more to come. Here's our latest updates:
-crawling turned to standing at furniture
-standing turned to walking with furniture
-next step was standing without the aid of furniture
-walking holding mommy or daddy's hand is the fun ability at the moment
-both girls are experimenting with steps on their own
-Addison has had numerous steps alone, along with numerous spills to the ground
-both are working on bending at the knees and carefully standing again (this balancing thing is tough)
-ohhh...how could I forget the climbing!?!
-stair climbing was first
-stair climbing turned to stair scrambling (the speed seriously picked up once they got it)
-then climbing into their workbench was fun
-then pushing the workbench to various pieces of furniture seemed like a good idea by hotshot Addison(see workbench serve as stepping stool)
-then Delilah followed suit
-now they've moved on to climb the ottoman and standing at the tv
-today's efforts were directed towards climbing the couches without the aid. this does prove to be a challenge, but our girls like a challenge!
AND...we're working on giving kisses!!!! (they're wide, open-mouth kisses...but they get the idea when mommy and daddy ask for a kiss...open mouth and move forward)
