Geez - how this summer flew by!  But another AMAZING one spent with family.  The best gift ever!!  So here we go with 6-year old stats:

Addison: 45lbs (50th percentile), 47.5" (80th percentile)
previously: 40lbs (75th percentile), 44.5" (90th percentile)
size 5T and 6T...she's tall and thin.  Currently working on size 12 shoes


Delilah: 39.8lbs (40th percentile), 45" (65th percentile)
previously: 36lbs (25th percentile), 42.25" (50th percentile)
size 5T on average...but still able to wear 4T, 3T or even 24 month shorts/skirts since I don't have to worry about the length...and her shoe size is 10-11.

Back to School

I've not yet updated with 5-year old information.  It was such a wonderful, busy summer with my little ladies.  They are so much fun and I love watching them grow more and more into their individual little selves. 

They are both readers and tend to play dress-up and do pretend play with their animals and dolls...but they're both into their own things.  You'll find Delilah "crafting" at almost any moment.  Crafting to her includes drawing, coloring, cutting, taping, stapling and simply making creations.  Addison would definitely prefer to watch tv if given the opportunity.  So if she can't and needs to entertain herself (crafting only holds her interest for so long), she'll choose games and dancing. 


Addison: 40lbs (75th percentile), 44.5" (90th percentile)

previously: 37lbs (75th percentile), 42" (93rd percentile)
size 5T for the most part...mostly because of her length and now size 11 shoes


Delilah: 36lbs (25th percentile), 42.25" (50th percentile)

Capturing the Moment

This reflects my girls right now.  Addison is girlie all the way.  She likes to dress like a young lady.  She enjoys being pretty and insists on her accessories.  She even chooses her hairstyle (except on Sundays when I get to try my way).  Delilah is spunky-girlie.  She tends to lean towards skirts and dresses now.  She chooses pink and purple over red and orange but still sports her chucks from Aunt Edesie. 

4-Year Stats!!!!!

I can't believe how quickly this time with my beauties has flown by.  They're growing up.  They're showing interest in reading and writing!!!  They're crafting maniacs.  They LOVE pretend play and reenact dances and "adventures" for themselves and us all the time. They're going to school 5 days a week in the fall!!!  I can't get over this. 

Addison: 37lbs (75th percentile), 42" (93rd percentile)
(up 4 lbs and 3" from 36 months)
size 4T for the most part...mostly because of her length

Their Dr. commented that Addison is the height of a 5-year old and people would probably expect more out of her thinking that she's older than she is.  Of course, Addison is a pleaser and is willing to show that she can take on anything. 

Delilah: 33lbs(25th percentile), 39" (50th percentile)
(up 4 lbs and 1.5" inches from 36 months)
size 3T on average...but still able to wear 24 month shorts/skirts since I don't have to worry about them looking silly

3 year stats

36 months:Addison: 33lbs (75th percentile), 39" (90th percentile)
(up 6 lbs and 3.5" from 24 months)
size 3T for the most part

Delilah: 29lbs 8 oz (25th percentile), 37.5" (60th percentile)
(up 6 lbs and 3" inches from 24 months)
size 24month/2T on average...but I can squeeze her into 18 month shorts/skirts (especially with undies instead of diapers)

Hooray!

This is HUGE news. Really. Really. Huge!
We started a week ago. We had no success for 4 days. But I didn't give up. Delilah kept crying she didn't want the potty. She didn't know how. So we sat a lot. I had a lot of time sitting on the floor in both of my bathrooms this week. Delilah and I got in some fights. We had a lot of alone time. That was nice, actually. Just Delilah and mommy...face to face...talking to each other...with minimal sister interruptions...in the bathroom. Then on day 5, I flooded her with fluids...juice...not watered down like usual...just to get her to drink, drink, drink to get those kidneys full. Then we sat, sat, sat. And it came out. She was happy because I was jumping and clapping, ecstatic for her (and me!). Then day 6 had some accidents, but a lot of successes! So we are HAPPY here in the Thomas house with two toddlers using the potty.











I have to tell you about my initial potty-training thoughts.  I was not into the idea of a toddler-potty, I was all for the potty seat. I didn't want to deal with cleaning it.  But I did buy it when we first started.  Potty training was difficult in the beginning (all four attempts!) and if this was gonna make it easier, I'd take it.  Addison never really needed it, but it's all Delilah uses...so it was a good purchase for that reason.  Another reason I'm happy that I have it is shown in the picture.  It was more than one occasion that I had two girls going at the same time.  Watching them chit-chat while using the potty is humorous.  Aahhh..life with twins is busy busy, but fun and no-doubt funny!

Potty Update

She's attempted to sit on the potty. I had to give her credit for that! Better than her potty woes! Once summer is here, it's no holds barred...

Update

So you may have heard that we had a little incident recently. Delilah woke up screaming one morning at 2am. I knew that she had a fresh blister on her finger, but couldn't imagine that this was the boo-boo that she was screaming about. I took her into my room and let her sleep on my chest that night. She continued to wake and whimper through the night. In the morning, I was able to detect that the boo-boo was not her finger. She winced when I picked her up, she cried when I carried her or moved her, but couldn't tell me any more. I was afraid that she'd bruised her ribcage. We traveled to visit marmy and papa and Aunt Minda where she remained cautious and favoring her left side. In the afternoon, she finally told me that her boo-boo was on her shoulder, but I couldn't see it. I called our wonderful pediatrician who talked me through a possible dislocated elbow...I was really thinking that she had a dislocated shoulder, but the doctor said that really couldn't be it as that's a football injury. So we agreed to meet with her on Sunday morning! When she did see Delilah, she determined that it was probably a broken collarbone, but we'd have to get it confirmed with an x-ray at orthopedics!

In the meantime, to make Delilah comfortable, I created a make-shift sling which she miraculously kept on. I imagine that her pain was lessened with it, so there was no argument. Before bedtime, this girlie was coloring and moving this arm around..so I felt confident that she was doing better.

So on Monday, it was indeed confirmed that she has a broken collarbone. I wasn't happy with our visit for a few reasons. Delilah wasn't happy in this strange place, so that made me feel badly. Addison didn't like being separated as she and daddy had to wait while Delilah and I went in for the x-rays. Then Delilah had to lie on a bed while a big machine took pictures. The tech was so nice, but she just couldn't soothe Delilah. Then when we finally went to meet with the Ortho PA, we encountered some more unhappiness...on my part as well as Delilah. No, I do not know how Delilah broke her collarbone. These girls are always rough-housing, playing, falling, crying, screaming and laughing. Delilah has a high-tolerance for pain as well. Anyways, the PA wasn't happy with the fact that I didn't know...I just wanted to help my little baby, but I felt that I was being slightly interrogated about the circumstances. So when the PA gave us a sling for Delilah and she didn't want it at that moment, I didn't force it. She has been wearing it at home, but will also remove it so therefore I don't have any pics of her with it.

2 year stats

24 months:
Addison: 27lbs (55th percentile), 35.5" (90th percentile)
(up about 2.5 lbs and 2.5 inches from 18 months)

Delilah: 23lbs 6 oz (10th percentile), 34.5" (75th percentile)
(up 2 lbs and 2.5 inches from 18 months)
(tall and narrow! she's probably equal to Addison's weight at 16 months!!!)

Delilah has FINALLY started saying "luv u mommy". She said it 3x on her birthday in the car on our trip home from the Adirondacks and has said it here and there since then. Needless to say, I LOVE it!!! She snuggles right in and says "luv u mommy" and I respond with "luv you too, Lilah-Bean". I then turn and say "luv you, Addy-Cakes", but haven't gotten a response from her yet!

Both girls have also started showing preferences for colors. Addy is, of course, all about the princesses and chooses pink or purple whereas Delilah tends to choose orange or green. She also tends to choose whatever is left after Addison chooses or simply takes whatever Addison has deemed to go her way. Thank goodness for her easy-nature personality!

18 month stats

18 months:
Addison: 24lbs 5oz (60th percentile), 33" (85th percentile)
(at 12 months she was in the 50th and 75th percentile, respectively)
Delilah: 21lbs 6 oz (15th percentile), 32" (60th percentile)
(she's climbed the ladder and is in a higher percentile in each category...she weighs as much as Addison did at 12 months!!!)

15 month update

Addison: 22lbs 11.5oz (50th percentile), 31.25" (75th percentile)
Delilah: 19lbs 13 oz (10th percentile), 30.5" (50th percentile)

Delilah is tiny, she's usually the second one...but she has surpassed Addison. We didn't even know since she won't let us see inside her mouth...but she has molars and Addy doesn't yet have them. (She also rules in climbing!)

Doctor Visit

Today we went to the doctor's office. We had fun running around and getting some attention from Dr. Wirt and the nurses. Fun until the horrible needles that got stuck into our legs...3 of them!!!!! Waaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the cookies, that made it a little better.


And yes, we do like breadsticks!

Delilah: 10lbs 15 oz (5th percentile), 23.5" (25th percentile)

6 months:
Addison: 15lbs 5oz (45th percentile), 26.25" (75th percentile)
Delilah: 13lbs 1 oz (5th percentile), 25.5" (50th percentile)

9 months:
Addison: 17lbs 8oz (25th percentile), 28.5" (75th percentile)
Delilah: 15lbs 7 oz (5th percentile), 27" (25th percentile)

12 months:

still the petite one, but now near the 10th percentile! :-)

9 Month Stats

Addison weighs in at about 17.5 lbs (25th percentile). She made it to the 75th percentile for her height - 28.5".

Tiny Delilah tipped the scales at about 15.5 lbs (maintaining her status in the 5th percentile). Her length measurement of 27" put her in the 25th percentile.

So basically, they are tall and thin...who knew that Ezra and I would be associated with thin babies! Dr. Wirt also said that the girls are showing 1-year old tendencies (refusing to eat unless they are in charge). She was impressed with their motor skills (as they zipped all over the room, showing their abilities to crawl, sit, transition to standing) and predicts walking soon. That prediction came with a warning to us as life is about to become crazier again. (As though these girls have ever let us revel in the serenity of calmness).
