We put the girls in VBS for a week. This was their first real "school" outing. They've attended Sunday nursery school and just began Sunday School (now that they're 3!) but those are really just for an hour. Here they were all on their own for 2.5 hours. I was a bit nervous for them, though I'm sure that I didn't let on. I hung around a bit for the first day and then snuck away. This may have created their hesitance for the rest of the morning because they (mainly Delilah) was a bit apprehensive about being without me. So to make things better for the following day, I asked the girls if they wanted to make thank-you crafts for their leaders. I made mine to model the "flower" that we would gift them.
Of course they were on board to do a craft. So we colored first. BTW - Delilah LOVEs coloring. And she's good at it. Really good at it. And that's not just proud parents talking, the neighbor saw her doing it one day and commented that she did better than his 4-year old.
Then we moved on to stickers. Oh boy, they enjoy "stickering" and went through the whole box. Delilah intently stickered a "beautiful gift" whereas Addison moved from stickering the gift to herself.
So my craft-venture was a success. The girls, with smiles, gave their leaders the gifts in the morning. The lovely ladies accepted them and praised the girls' artistic skills. I then gave quick kisses and slipped out. When I picked them up they were happy little girls. Ezra and I agree that nursery school will be a success this year. We also envision a return to some naps as by day 3 they were exhausted and their crankiness and whininess lead them straight to a nap after getting a toasted cheese sandwich in their little bellies.
